Staff members provide ongoing bonuses to your club, in matches, training, recovery, and finances. Find them at Club → Staff. Quality staff make a significant difference, but they cost money, so prioritise carefully.

Essential Staff — Hire These First

 Do not skip the Physical Therapist. Energy is the most common pain point for new managers, and a good physio resolves it significantly.

Staff Quality

A staff member's effectiveness comes from three attributes:

• Qualification — their skill level. Can be raised by sending them for further training.

• Experience — grows with time on the job and through training.

• Motivation — higher motivation means better work. Raise it with pay increases. Falls over time if neglected.

When advertising for new staff, negotiate the terms. You can often get significantly better salary conditions, but there is a chance the candidate withdraws if negotiations go badly. Early on, avoid risky negotiations — any decent hire is better than none.

Special Staff (Upgrades Tab)

The Upgrades tab in the Staff section shows special staff members with unique one-off effects. Notable examples:

• Facility Manager Jack Fountain — automatically checks building conditions and schedules repairs, saving you manual work.

• Senior Marketing Manager — significantly improves sponsor negotiation outcomes.

• Daniel Kent (Tactics Coach) — reduces yellow cards in matches by 20%.

• Team Psychologist — activated during matches; boosts team morale.

Some special staff can only be won through Top Team challenges or special in-game events — check Club → Staff → Upgrades and Matches → United → Top Teams regularly.

Plus Staff Coupons

Plus Staff coupons are available in the card shop, usually once per season. Using one on a staff member locks their motivation at 100 (maximum) for 90 days — essentially eliminating the need for pay rises during that period. Over a full season, this saves a substantial amount in wages.
