The GU Legends World Championship 2026 (GULWC 2026) is goalunited's flagship international tournament, bringing together the strongest national teams from across all countries. It runs in two phases: a Qualification round followed by a Final.
The Qualification phase starts from 11 May 2026, based on the official national ranking recorded on 27 April 2026.
Ranking on 27 April | What Happens |
Top 8 national teams (Ranks 1–8) | Automatically advance to the Final phase — no qualifications needed |
Ranks 9–40 (next 32 teams) | Compete in the Qualifications phase |
Below Rank 40 | Not participating in GULWC 2026 |
The ranking used is the Nations Ranking for Layer 1 clubs — specifically the best 15 players per nation, without the 'Ranking top 100 clubs' filter applied.
The 32 qualifying nations are split into 4 groups of 8 teams:
League A, League B, League C, League D — each contains 8 nations.
Each team plays 14 matches total (2 against every other team in their group — home and away).
Matches are played daily throughout the qualification phase.
The top 3 teams from each group advance to the Final phase.
That means 12 teams advance from qualifications, joining the 8 automatic qualifiers for a total of 20 teams in the Final.
Tip: To follow your nation's progress, go to Matches → Official Matches and look for the GULWC tab during the event period.
The Final phase is planned for June 2026 and features all 20 qualified nations.
20 teams split into 2 groups of 10.
Each team plays against all group opponents.
The best 4 teams from each group advance to the Knockout Rounds.

The national team for your country is assembled automatically from the strongest eligible players across all clubs in that nation. You do not manually select the squad; the game picks 31 players per nation:
3 goalkeepers
7 players for each outfield position (defender, midfielder, winger, striker)
Player selection is based on strength value for each player's best current position. The stronger and better-developed your players are, the more likely they contribute to your national team.
Role | How It's Assigned |
National Hero | The 2 strongest players per nation. Almost always in the starting lineup. If one is Charismatic, they wear the captain's armband. |
Goalgetter | Top scorers in the national squad. Prioritised in attacking positions and take penalties. |
Free Kick Specialist | Players with a Free Kick talent of 6+ trained slots. Assigned as free kick takers. |
During both phases, all managers — not just those whose nations are competing — can participate by predicting match outcomes, group winners, and the tournament champion. Check the GULWC section in the game to make your predictions before each match.
Even though your country is not participating, you can still follow matches, play 1on1 matches and make predictions in the Guess the Winner feature.
The ranking is based on the average strength of each nation's top 15 Layer 1 players, recorded on 27 April 2026. Players in all other layers do not affect the national ranking.
The game automatically selects the strongest eligible players. All you can do is to train and maximize your players, however, this needs to be done before the day the players are recorded for the competition. There is no manual squad selection.
No action is required from individual managers. The national team competes automatically. You can follow matches in the live ticker, make predictions, and track your nation's progress, but there is nothing to set or manage yourself.
The Final phase is planned for June 2026. Exact dates will be announced via in-game news and on the official Discord server.
