There are three possible types of referee reputations in matches:

- **easygoing** \- less likely to issue yellow or red cards

- **fussy** - more prone to show yellow or red cards

- **balanced** \- falling somewhere in between the other two.

> **Info:** In addition to the referee's reputation, it's essential to remember that a high effort or a specific player's personality can elevate the chances of receiving yellow or red cards.

> Even in games officiated by a balanced or easygoing referee, you may see the issuance of [yellow or red cards](https://support.goalunited.org/articles/39), as this can be affected by the severity of the foul or the nature of the unsportsmanlike conduct.
