GU Legends World Championship (GULWC)

GU Legends World Championship (GULWC) is an exciting two-phase competition that brings the best clubs in goalunited together to face off for glory! 

The competition setup

Phase 1: Qualifications – GULWC-Q

The Qualification phase will take place throughout May (upfront announcement will be sent in game)

Participants

• The Top 27 clubs from the ranking will automatically qualify for the Final phase (see below)
• The next 70 clubs will compete in the Qualifications phase to earn a spot in the Final.

How it works:

• The 70 clubs in the Qualifications phase are randomly split into 7 groups, each with 10 clubs.
• Each club will play 9 matches (one against each group opponent).
• After all matches are played, the top 3 clubs from each group move on to the Final.

• Total clubs advancing from Qualifications:
  21 clubs (3 clubs × 7 groups)

Phase 2: Final – GULWC Final

The Final phase is planned for June-July.

Participants:

A total of 48 clubs will compete:

• 27 directly qualified clubs
• 21 clubs from the Qualifications phase

How it works:

• Group Stage:
  • The 48 participating clubs are split into 8 groups of 6.
  • Each club plays 5 matches (one vs each opponent in the group).
  • The top 2 clubs from each group advance to the Knockout Rounds.

• Knockout Rounds:

• Top 16: 8 matches
• Quarterfinals: 4 matches
• Semifinals: 2 matches
• 3rd Place Match: 1 match
• Final: 1 match to crown the Champion!

Guess the Winner

During both the Qualifications and Final phases, all managers in goalunited can make their prediction for a given match

• Each day, 1 match is preselected.
• Every goalunited manager can guess the winner of that match.
• If the guess is correct:
  • You earn points based on 1on1 matches played that day.
• If the match ends in a draw:
  • You still earn points from 1on1 matches played in the group phase.
